Electrical Inspections

Electrical inspections need to be carried on most domestic installations at least every ten years, if the property is tenanted then this is reduced to five years, or a change of tenancy, this is to ensure that the installation is safe for all to use.

For other types of premises this interval varies, for instance industrial workshops should be inspected every three years, offices every five years and caravan parks annually.

Most new work except a repair or replacement of an accessory needs to be certified, by either a Minor works certificate or a Installation certificate.

Any work in a kitchen, bathroom, change a consumers unit, upgrade earthing or bonding, and any external electrical work would need to carried out by a “Part P”registered contractor
